If you have never worked with a freelance designer, please take a look at my FAQ page here. If your question is not answered here, please email me and I will answer it in person.

Q. How do I get a project started with you?

  1. A.After I receive information about the project (whether it’s email descriptions, or images of ideas), I will send you a project agreement.

  2. I will also send you an invoice for the deposit if one is necessary. After you receive both, review them and sign the agreement if you agree to the terms.

  3. Scan the signed agreement and email or fax me a copy. Send the deposit amount as a check made out to Ice Moon Studios to 7925 Sharpsburg Pike Boonsboro, MD 21713.

  4. When I receive the signed agreement I will begin the project. This is when I will email you proofs for you to review. You can offer suggestions or ask questions at any time.

Q. What is a Proof?

  1. A.A proof is an in-progress image of the project I am working on. It will typically be a small (5 in x 5 in) .jpg or .png image that I will send to you via email. Sometimes I will send PDF proofs. This is just a way for you to keep track of what I am doing and a way for me to receive feedback about the work.

Q. What is a Project Agreement?

  1. A.A project agreement ensures that both client and designer are happy with the end result. The project agreement will include information such as: a project description, payment schedule, and all the information about file transfer and copyright ownership. That way, everyone is on the same page from the very beginning. You can download a blank project agreement here, to take a look at it.

Q. Who do I fax my Project Agreement to?

  1. A.You fax the signed project agreement to Joanie Costlow at 717.597.4928.

Q. Who do I pay and what forms of payment do you accept?

  1. A.At this time I can only accept a check or money order made out to Ice Moon Studios and sent to 7925 Sharpsburg Pike Boonsboro, MD 21713.

Q. How do I contact you if I have a question?

  1. A.You can email me any time with any question, comment, or concern at joaniesee@icemoonstudios.com.

Q. How do I get my completed project?

  1. A.When the project is completed, I will send you the final invoice. You will then be able to download the final project from a link I will provide, or you can request a disc that I will mail to you. If the file is small enough, I may be able to email the project as an attachment.

Q. How is Ice Moon Studios Eco-Friendly?

  1. A.Because projects can be completed entirely via the internet & email, there is no wasted paper, traveling expenses, or time spent in meetings which means quicker and more earth-friendly results. Working from my home office also means that there is no traveling to a central office. Proofs are not mailed to you (like traditional designers) saving trees and keeping costs down. Also, to counter the energy used to power my computer equipment, I spend my evenings planting trees, composting, recycling, pickin up trash, gardening, and volunteering time or donating to (local) green organizations.

Q. Where did you get your company name?

  1. A.With a love of science, documentaries, and Kurt Vonnegut, I decided to name my company in honor of Saturn’s 6th moon, Titan. The only moon in our solar system that has a thick atmosphere and a surface covered with seas of frozen methane, Titan has been intensely studied since it was first viewed in 1655.

  2. Titan also happens to be the temporary home of Salo, a Tralfamadorian explorer shipwrecked on the moon in my favorite of Kurt Vonnegut’s work, The Sirens of Titan.

  3. My logo is actually an altered photograph of Titan at the center encompassed by the rings of its mother planet. Planets and moons have always captured my imagination which is why I try hard to bring about change in the health of our home planet. One day, man will set foot on Titan, but I want it to be a visit of excited exploration, not necessary colonization.
